Location: Kapadza Hill, Sanyati, Zimbabwe
The first project is an existing rural single gold claim located deep inside Sanyati, Sachuru Communal Lands, on the shoulders of Kapadza Hill, some
130km west of Kadoma in Zimbabwe.
This gold deposit is surrounded by a marginalized and poor community of peasant farmers who can hardly feed themselves year in year out. The
potential of this mine is virtually untapped. Between 2006 and 2019 intermittent artisanal activities have seen the establishment of shallow winzes
(shafts) from surface pitting, carting the ore to nearby custom millers for processing. The major reason being under capitalization and low-level
mining skills.
The mine is a rare deposit with an extensive, competent, East to West trending, steep quartz reef outcropping on the hill shoulders. The reef
thickness is about 0.8m wide with a proven strike length extending over a kilometer and has an average grade of 8.7g/t. Current resources show
60,000 tonnes of ore, which will increase with further exploration and mine development which will also increase the current Life of Mine (LOM) of 9
years.
However, despite all this the local community still languish in poverty, yet they live within and around this gold resource. The project will help
alleviate this poverty.
Shondilo hold a 40% stake in the Sanyati operation and have carried out initial mine planning and layout, The current team will be expanded and will
be provided with comprehensive training, including competency to enable the provision of a Mine Blasting Licence (MBL) for each operator. Hoisted
ore tonnages will average 590 tonnes per month, producing 51 oz. of gold.
Shondilo will work closely with ZELA (Zimbabwe Environmental Lawyers Association) on environmental and welfare facets of the project.
